A July Note from Krystal: On Rest, Renewal, & Looking Forward

June asked me to slow down in ways I never imagined. After completing our Macy’s Workshop and pouring everything into KAPHILL, I had an unexpected emergency surgery. Between hospital walls and recovery days, I was reminded how precious rest, space, and intention are. I’m forever grateful to the team at Columbia for guiding me through it—and giving me permission to pause fully.

That pause led to the simple, beautiful things: rewatching Breakfast at Tiffany’s, followed by In the Heat of the Night. I discovered Nine Perfect Strangers—a provocative take on healing and self-discovery. Dinners at The Polo Bar and the newly opened Haymarket in Chelsea were small joys that grounded me. I even spent an afternoon wandering the Arcmanoro Niles exhibition at Lehmann Maupin—colour-rich, soulful, and electric with presence.

Through this, I sketched softly—no hustle, no deadlines—just intention. I imagined holiday dressing with a clean spirit and enduring elegance

As we head into July, here’s what I’m loving—and living:.

What to Experience

A long brunch at Haymarket (Chelsea) the Caribbean-European dishes are unforgettabl

Each month I’ll share a few statement pieces I’m eyeing—because a well-curated closet can feel like sanctuary:

  • A slouchy sculptural tote in saddle leather (thinking 12 x 14—not tiny, not too big)

  • Bold heel: sculptural, minimal—something you’ll still want to wear in ten years

  • Statement sunnies: angular cat-eye or softly rounded frames in dark tort

  • Statement Trench Coat for fall — luxe, timeless, and layering-friendly

As always, thank you for being here. For the women who find joy in design, who lean into change with confidence, and who understand living well isn’t a luxury—it’s a choice. You’re not just wearing KAPHILL—you’re building the life that wears it beautifully.

With love and intention,
Krystal
